Alison Lester joined The Madhatters Comedy Company in 1999. Before coming to Singapore, she did improv and stand-up comedy in Tokyo. She now teaches improvisation at Lasalle College of the Arts and runs her own corporate training business. Her collection of short stories - Locked Out: Stories Far from Home - was published in Singapore in 2006
I was lucky to meet Christina Sergeant when she arrived in Singapore in 1983 and we soon set up Phizzog to explore our mutual love of masks and comedy. We ran STARS togethers (‘86 - ‘89) where she directed me in the musical comedy The  Best Little *House in Texas (* we couldn’t use the word whore in 1986!)  We set up The Madhatters in 1991.
Christina created Mime Unlimited  to promote the art of mime, her lifelong love, and was its sole Artistic Director. She has been nominated for many awards both as a performer and as a director and her range of work, which embraces comedy, drama, musicals and visual theatre, is truly amazing
Randy Chew was a founding member of Hi! Theatre of the Deaf and appeared in almost every show staged by the Company from 1986 – 2002.

In 1987, he was awarded a Ministry of Community Development scholarship to train at the American  National Theatre of the Deaf in Connecticut. Besides his skill in traditional mime he is also highly skilled in using sign mime, and incorporating both visual vernacular and cinematic techniques.  He has performed in Art Festivals in Beglium, Washington DC, Tokyo , KL, Bali and Brisbane.

Randy is also a gifted mask-maker and has created several spectacular masks for productions including A Midsummer Nights' Dream, The Lords of Creation (both for S.T.A.R.S.), Wiglington and Wenks (for Dramaplus Arts), and other theatre companies.
I met Gophi Nathan through Hi! Theatre and quickly came to admire his talent as a comedian. Totally self-taught, gophi exudes a natural, warm spontaneity which audiences find very appealing. A rubber face and an elastic body enable him to adopt a wide variety of characters and put them into some difficult situations!
