June 26: Performance at MANDARIN GARDENS : a bumper audience (120 kids plus mums and dads ) had a great time listening to Animal stories. The reps from the CC seem very pleased and say they’ve got extra funding to bring more perfs to condos!
June 23 Performance at HAIG COURT. This condo-based performance was thanks to a referral from the Managing Agent at Neptune Court who saw the terrific response (100+ kids plus parents) to my show there last month.
23 May: ROGER DRAWS A HUGE CROWD at the NATIONAL MUSEUM! Instead of the 50 that the organisers expected, I had 266 in the audience today watching me tell with the help of puppets, props and plenty of participation!
22 May: Congratulations to the Drama Club of AI TONG PRIMARY SCHOOL for placing 3rd in the 2010 Shell Singapore Youth Science Festival. I had the pleasure to script and direct their entry was dealt with bio-mimetics in the home (gecko-inspired sticky tape, hammers based on a woodpecker’s beak, and a silent laptop fan that owes its design to an owl’s feathers!) Thanks also to Hemang Yadav for seeing the kids through the final rehearsals and to artist Lee Kowling for her delightful props made from recycled materials
April 25 - 30 : I had a thoroughly enjoyable week at the Singapore International School in Hong Kong, where I told stories to all levels from K1 - Secondary 1, as well as conducting drama workshops for the Sec 2’s and 3’s . Young Post covered one of my Secondary 1 storytelling workshops and made it their cover story. My thanks to principal Mdm Mak and all her staff who made me feel so welcome. I hope to return to HK later this year to do some work for the Arts Festival 2011.
This week I received my first royalty payment fro the sale of THE DRAMA TOOLKIT. As it was only published late in 2009, this royalty won’t get me much more than a night in a good hotel, but I’m pleased to learn that sales this year have been going well and a broad cross-section of schools are now exploring how to integrate it into their STELLAR schemes of work.

June 23rd : a performance at HAIG COURT condominium. This is the result of a referrral from an enthusiastic audience member (the Managin g Agent!) at Neptune Court, where I gave the first performance in what is to be a bi-monthly series organised by the Siglap CC IAEC in the interests of promoting community bonding. If you’d like a performance at your condo, why not get your Managing Agent to give me a call?

My work in schools:
I’m part of an exciting programme at St Anthony’s Canossian Primary. Each of the six P4 classes has been assigned 6-7 chapters of James and the Giant Peach and I’m helping each class to present their section of the book - be it as drama, Reader’s Theatre, storytelling, visual theatre., with puppets etc. We’re having a lot of fun and I’m impressed with the way the girls are responding so creatively to their literature text.
I’m delighted that the Australian International School has asked me to conduct a Storytelling and Drama programme on Folktales with their Yr3 and Myths and Legends (Yr 4) (May 24 - June 2)
June will see me running teacher-training programmes at Fengshan , St Anthony’s and Teck Whye primaries, as well as a storytelling programme for the pupil librarians at Yew Tee Primary.
