27/02 What a great day I had at the CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL in Bukit Timah. As their Keynote Speaker, it was a joy to share 60 minutes of Asian stories to such a responsive adult audience of 220 - and all without a microphone too, which gave the show an added intimacy, despite the numbers. Listening to stories made for a refreshing start to the day (no powerpoint presentation on pedagogy!) and brought the staff from the 4 different grade-level campuses together.
23/02 I told two stories on Caring (for others and your family) to 720 P3/P4 pupils at Xinmin. Bibi and the Singing Drum had them rapt for almost 20 minutes, and lots of kids were singing Bibi’s song (‘I have a seashell from the sea’) on the way out!
9 - 20 Feb: I enjoyed a wonderful two-week residency at Maryknoll Convent School in Hong Kong working with five Form 1 classes and running a teachers’ workshop. Ten simply amazing days of telling, creating and sharing stories with some very talented 12 year-old girls. more see videos
6/02 a marathon day at Northlands Primary giving six 30 minute performances, one to each level. But what a difference it makes when I can choose age-appropriate stories and get them close enough to me to see each and every face! Thank you Northlands for being such a supporter of storytelling (I also ran workshops for their teachers last month)
